The first message to a regional director should not have to answer every question. It should make the opportunity understandable enough to decide what deserves deeper discussion.
Begin with place, crop and problem.
State the relevant country or market, the crop or agricultural activity, who is involved and the problem you hope to address. A reference to West Africa alone is usually too broad: farming conditions, market channels and legal requirements differ significantly by location.
Next, describe what kind of engagement is being proposed. Is the question about seed availability, crop nutrition, agronomic guidance, data-driven decision support or a distribution partnership? Aligning the request with a defined agricultural capability helps it reach the right conversation.
Separate verified information from assumptions.
Provide the evidence you already have, such as local market observations, product requirements, business credentials, relevant authorisations or a defined field objective. Clearly label estimates, aspirations and facts that need to be independently confirmed.
Ask for one practical next step.
End with a concrete request: a conversation about fit, a referral to the appropriate group team, a technical discussion or an initial document review. Avoid suggesting that sending a proposal creates a partnership or commercial commitment.
Grayson Mabugo's regional role within the IAG context is presented as the interface for relevant West African agricultural conversations. IAG's published platform covers input supply, agronomy, field execution and intelligence. A brief should state which element is pertinent and what country-level diligence may be required.
- Which country and agricultural system?
- What specific problem or opportunity?
- Which IAG capability might be relevant?
- Who are the proposed local counterparties?
- What evidence or documentation is available?
- What is the next decision you are requesting?
You can outline these points using the interactive opportunity workspace, which creates a draft locally in your browser without submitting information.
